A U T H O R
Hi, I'm Jone Halley.
I write romance stories, but you'll also find me wandering into fantasy, suspense, contemporary fiction, and poetry whenever a story refuses to stay in one lane. Whether I'm writing about impossible love, morally gray characters, found families, epic adventures, or worlds that exist only in my imagination, I'm always chasing one thing: stories that make you feel something long after you've turned the last page.
I grew up in a mixed-race family, so it's only natural that many of my books feature interracial couples. It's simply the world I know. I love writing characters from different backgrounds, complicated relationships, impossible choices, and people who keep fighting for the lives—and the people—they love.
The name Jone Halley is personal to me. Jone was my childhood nickname, and Halley comes from Halley's Comet. I've always been fascinated by the night sky—the moon, stars, constellations, meteor showers... if it's celestial, I'm probably looking up at it. The name felt like the perfect combination of a little piece of my past and something I've loved for as long as I can remember.
Believe it or not, writing wasn't my first dream.
In 6th grade, I wanted to be a singer. In high school, I wanted to be a lawyer, an astronaut, and then a housewife when I thought I was going to marry my high school sweetheart. Then I wanted to be a pilot, but found out I was too short to fly. So, I decided to become a photographer. When that didn’t work out, I decided to be a writer.
Turns out, that was the one dream that never stopped calling me back.
I first published romance under another pen name and was honored to be named a finalist in both the 2018 American Fiction Awards and the 2018 International Book Awards, earning recognition in Romance and Romantic Suspense. In 2020, I stepped away from writing to focus on other chapters of my life, including becoming a teacher. Six years later, I found my way back to storytelling with more life experience, more ideas, and more stories than ever before.
When I'm not writing, I'm probably watching dramas, adding yet another song to one of the thousands in my playlists that I swear I'll organize someday, searching for good food, or being judged by my cats. I collect hobbies almost as quickly as I collect story ideas, and I've learned that every dream I've ever chased—even the ones that didn't work out—has found its way into my books somehow.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you find a story here that makes you laugh, cry, stay up way too late, or simply reminds you why you fell in love with reading in the first place.
